Hypocrites!

The Boston Globe has an article about The Mass "Family" Institute's latest foray into discrimination against families. Today I will only dwell on one portion of the Mass "Family" Institute's quest for bigotry in the Mass Constitution. They say:

Civil Unions are discriminatory in providing special privileges based on the sexual preference of a small, vocal minority. There are many people with valid needs in the Commonwealth who have dependent relationships that are not based on sexual preference, such as a son taking care of his ailing mother, or two elderly sisters living together. The needs of any two dependents would be best addressed through reciprocal benefits legislation, that does not discriminate against dependent couples that are not homosexual.
So supposedly, they and Gov. Romney are so concerned about other dependent relationships that they want to make sure that these "affected groups" receive reciprocal benefits and that granting civil unions (marriage lite) is discriminatory against these groups. My questions:

IF THEY ARE SO CONCERNED ABOUT DEPENDENT RELATIONSHIPS WHY AREN'T THEY PROPOSING LEGISLATION NOW? WHY WAIT UNTIL 2008 TO GIVE THEM BENEFITS? IS IT MORE IMPORTANT TO DISCRIMINATE AGAINST SAME SEX COUPLES FIRST BEFORE THEY CAN WORK ON GETTING "TWO ELDERLY SISTERS" BENEFITS?

As much as they want to deny it, Mass "Family" is for discrimination against gay people. It's not about giving a son and his dependent mother benefits, its about depriving same sex couples the same rights and responsibilities as opposite sex couples plain and simple.

No Child Left Behind if They're Dead

Well, finally a useful piece of information from Massresistance. It seems that in President Bush's "No Child Left Behind Act" high schools are required to give the federal government the names and addresses off all juniors and seniors for the purpose of recruitment into the armed forces. If you are not concerned about your child enlisting this is not a problem.

Recruiters are up-front about their plans to use school lists to aggressively pursue students through mailings, phone calls, and personal visits -- even if parents object. "The only thing that will get us to stop contacting the family is if they call their congressman," says Major Johannes Paraan, head U.S. Army recruiter for Vermont and northeastern New York. "Or maybe if the kid died, we'll take them off our list."
Kudos go out to the Principal of Lexington High School for alerting parents of this potentially lethal threat.

Ms. Massresistance is pissing and moaning over the fact that the pricipal notified parents of this action. What Ms. Massresistance refuses to accept is that the Federal government requires the principal to notify parents (from the "No Child Left Behind Act"):

(2) CONSENT- A secondary school student or the parent of the student may request that the student's name, address, and telephone listing described in paragraph (1) not be released without prior written parental consent, and the local educational agency or private school shall notify parents of the option to make a request and shall comply with any request.

In a related matter, Conservatives are joining the fray in asking the Whitehouse to repeal the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy". Apparently, we are not good enough to receive equal treatment under the law for our families but we are good enough to die on the battlefield. It seems that since the Armed services is badly in need of recruits, some people are willing to "look the other way" when it comes to gay and lesbian personnel. However, the White House isn't budging yet:
Still, the White House and the Pentagon have given no signals that they would drop their longstanding support for the policy, implemented in 1993 under the Clinton administration. It prohibits the military from inquiring about the sex lives of service members but requires discharge of those who acknowledge being gay.
I can't imagine what will happen if a draft does go into effect. I guess gay and lesbian young people will be "coming out of the woodwork" instead of the closet if the ban stays in effect.

MA Family is Betting on an Alternative Marriage Question

Today's Globe states that the Mass Family Institute will be gathering signatures in Sept to try to put same sex marriage on the ballot in 2008. This action more than assures that the constitutional amendment currently before the Mass Legislature will fail in the fall.

The prospect of a new amendment with no provision for civil unions will probably undermine support for the competing, compromise measure. That compromise measure must clear the Legislature once more in order to be placed on the 2006 ballot.
It seems that Gov. Romney's Staff has been working with the anti-gay Mass Family Institute in crafting this new amendment although Romney hasn't made any statements about the new tactic.

Arline Isaacson says what all of us are thinking:
''We think they're crazy," said Arline Isaacson, cochairwoman of the Massachusetts Gay and Lesbian Political Caucus. ''We're amazed that they are writing off this year's [constitutional convention] when we know they have a very good chance of winning this year and therefore banning same-sex marriages starting in 2006. We're amazed they are considering letting us get married for two more years through 2008. It will virtually guarantee that many thousands more gay people will get married."

No News is Old News

Well, the news is out. The website Republican Voices has information on the "rally" that was held in Wayland by the anti-gay bigots and it appears to be a big *yawn*. It seems they could attribute nothing new to the "radical homosexual agenda" and only filled the empty minds present with out dated information.

In the "Why Not Go With the Sure Thing Department" Article 8 is still focusing on the GLSEN conference that Brian Camenker illegally recorded in 2000. At that conference a session was held where teens could ask questions with out being judged or harassed (all the while Camenker was taping the teens without their knowledge)

The same information Camenker claims is "outrageous" could have been obtained from one of Article 8's own presenters, Dr. John Diggs. In his article entitled "The Health Risks of Gay Sex" (which is easily obtainable by any child with an internet connection) he describes various sex acts including fisting and sadism (Article 8 seems to be obsessed with fisting for some reason. I, myself, have never read more about it than from the links they and Massresistance provide).

On a side note, it doesn't appear that the "Little Black Book" can be found anywhere on the web except for Article 8's website (again freely available with an internet connection from their website).

Nazi Anti-Jewish Speech vs Religious Right Anti-Gay Speech

I just found this great website which compares what the Nazi's said about the Jews to what the religious Right says about the gays. It's very enlightening and confirms a lot of the propaganda that Ms. Massresistance uses.

"When you say...You [gay Americans] are not a group of people who need special protection. You do well economically. You are an elite. That is precisely the argument that has been made in behalf of the worst kind of discrimination against Jewish people." - United States Senator Paul Wellstone, July 29, 1994 -Responding to a religious right spokesman's anti-gay testimony

Here are some examples from their website (with my links to Massresistance's propaganda):

This was then:
Jews consider Christians 'heathens', want destroy them

This is now:
Gays wants to Destroy the Catholic Church

Then:
Jews have better jobs, more money

Now:
"Married" Gays Whining over Their Taxes

Then:
Insidious Jews spread disease like rats

Now:
Foreign STD Appears in Boston Gay/Bisexual Community
The Health Risks of Gay Sex

Before:
Jews 1% of population: control politics, world opinion, NYC, & have lots of money

If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, its a duck

David Parker, the man who wouldn't leave a Lexington School unless police arrested him, is now on a "tour" of Maine along with Article 8's Brian Camenker (this is the group and the man that David Parker says he has nothing to do with!).

Parker said he has no affiliation with any of the many groups which have taken on his cause. He said he shares a certain "unity of purpose" with the Article 8 Alliance and Lexington Parents for Respect, but is not a member.

"There's a degree of association, but they do not speak for me," said Parker.

According to MaineToday.com, David Parker is going to "tour" the state of Maine with the group Coalition for Marriage to gather signatures to "veto" homosexual rights in Maine. The group says:

David Parker is only one of many who have been arrested for questioning the hidden agenda of the homosexual rights movement - and this is only the calm before the storm. The jailing of David Parker and Michael Macarvage and many others are just the first drops of rain in a gathering storm. When homosexuals succeed in their effort to gain absolute power, they will vent their fury on men of God with all the rage of the crowd gathered outside Abraham's door in Sodom and Gomorrah.
Now this is the same man (Parker) who said at the hearing that he does not object to the mention of same-sex families or any similar content but wants to have notification of when such topics will come up in the classroom on a formal basis.
He also said: "I feel for them because they think I'm trying to move between them and their children," he said, adding respect is taught in his house with his children explicitly instructed not to denigrate children from families different from their own. "It hurts me that they're hurt."

and yet he is touring Maine to make sure that those same families have no rights and are stripped of what little rights they may already have. David, it sure sounds like you are hurting because of all the damage you are causing to other families.

Birds do it, bees do it...

I'm talking of course about homosexual relationships. Massresistance, in its ongoing obsession with homosexual sex, is sure that homosexuality is not a biological issue. She quotes "Dr. John Diggs" (he's the guy who is affiliated with the Family Research Council (FRC), the FRC is the group headed by Tony Perkins who gave money to former Grand Wizard of the KKK David Duke for his mailing list) who is supposed to be an expert on homosexuality (like a Nun being an expert on marriage).

Dr. John Diggs points out that we are all born either male or female, period. He employs the analogy of a hockey player who is not born a hockey player, but becomes one through inclination, which in turn leads him to learn and practice hockey-playing behaviors. Note that this analogy does not deny the inclination some may possess to engage in homosexual behavior.

"Homosexuals" are not a separate class of human beings, but are just men and women who choose to engage in homosexual behaviors. They claim their identity is homosexual, but what they are really talking about is a chosen behavior.

With this logic, one can only conclude that they choose their heterosexual behavior. I can also assume that Ms. Massresistance could, if she wanted, fall in love with a woman and choose to co-habitate with her. All of this is of course laughable and foolish since intelligent people know that you cannot choose your sexual orientation.

I did a bit of researching on the web and found numerous articles on how natural homosexuality activity in the animal kingdom. (These are from unbiased sources too!)

National Geographic
Science News
Taipe Times
MSNBC

I even found this great quote in the Village Voice:

Homophobes used to argue that homosexuality was unnatural because no other
animals engaged in it. When scientists finally admitted that, yes, animals do
engage in homosexual acts, he bigots turned around and insisted that
homosexuality is disgusting because animals engage in it.

Homely portrayal of an Unnatural Union

Massresistance, forever obsessed with gay sex, is now making fun of legally married couples. In her latest diatribe, Ms Massresistance takes issue with the Boston Globe including a gay couple in its Sunday Magazine. According to Ms. Massresistance the Globe is not supposed to report that gay couples exist let alone can now get married. Gay couples are supposed to be hidden. Their children are not supposed to talk about their two dads or two moms because....Psst...They are not supposed to exist in these bigots minds.

The union I speak of in the title is the unnatural union of Massresistance and Article 8. The "blogger" of Massresistance and head of Article 8 are so quick to tear down loving couples, many of which have been together for years before they could get married. Do these people (Ms. Massresistance and Camenker) know what love is? Are they married? How could anyone who has found love with their partner feel justified in trashing other people's loving relationships?

(There was a couple in the Pride Parade that had been together for over 50 years and have survived together despite the actions of homophobes like Article 8. They finally got legally married last year.)

Kris with a K

One of the "Great" speakers at the Rally for the man accused of trespassing, David Parker:

Kris Mineau

The current leader of Mass Family Institute. This poor man is upset because his special rights were taken away from him. He is the acting head of the group since Ron Crews, that conservative Republican ran and loss miserably for Congress. Kris says about the same sex marriages :

"This is affecting me immediately because my children are in conflict. It's putting my children in turmoil," said Kris Mineau,"I've always argued that from May 17 onward, my heterosexual marriage was no longer unique, no longer a standard for the culture, and that's an affront to me and it grieves me."

Kris, maybe you should be spending more time with your spouse instead of bashing other people’s husbands and wives. Why do you think your marriage is so special that it should be a standard for everyone else?

I shouldn’t pick on Kris because he is often mistaken for a woman because of his name (many websites and articles point out that he is the spokeswoman for MA Family) so he probably thinks he has cause to lash out at the gay community. All I can say is, Kris, turn away from the Dark Side, we are much more accepting than the right and will not make fun of you because you have a girl’s name.

You can contact Kris at Phone: (617) 928-0800Fax: (617) 928-1515 or email him at mafamily@mafamily.org

Gay Pride = Orgies?

Ok, Massresistance is obsessed with gay sex AGAIN! (and she was just complaining about Margery Eagan!) In today's hate column, Ms. Massresistance gives us the "true" meaning of Gay Pride Week via one article in Bay Windows (I think we can all be represented by just one article in one newspaper. Hey I just read an article about a Grandfather who took sexually explicit pictures of his granddaughter, are we to assume all grandfathers act like this?) Not to mention that the "article" she is quoting is an opinion piece. Since when are Op/eds the norm for everyone in that category? She goes on further to say:

Is this really a "lifestyle" we want promoted to our boys, and our neighbors' boys, in our public schools? And by our state government?Homosexuality, especially the male variety, often means this sort of thing (going on all over in Boston this week)
Ok, I live in Boston, been here for over 12 years, and I have YET to be invited to a Crystal Meth party (not that I would want to go since my husband and I do not do drugs). Do gay people do drugs? Some probably do, some probably do not, just like heterosexuals.

Apparently, Ms. Massresistance didn't look at the other people/groups who take part in Gay Pride Week and the parade (this is only a handful):

LGBT Aging Project
Beantown Softball League
Bentley College
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
Emmanuel Church of Boston
SpeakEasy Stage Company
Verizon

You can check out more parade participates here.

The Massresistance "blogger" talks out both sides of her mouth, first she's condemning Margery for obsession then she obsesses. She talks about all these "orgies" then she's against same sex marriage which would let gay people settle into stable relationships. Obviously she would just like us to go away however I don't see that happening.

"Huge" Rally for David Parker?

Well, the rally for David Parker, the man who refused to leave the elementary school until the police arrested him, was held this past Sunday in Wayland. Apparently all the people who were coming out to "support" Parker didn't quite make it to the church on time. About 100 followers of Brian Camenker and Article 8 did make it though to hear the "great speakers" (two of which were Brian Camenker and David Parker). More on the other speakers later!

Pictures of the rally can be seen here on Article 8's website. (I won't stoop to the level of Massresitance and ridicule the people in the photos)

It seems that Article 8 was laying low since their sister group, Fred Phelp's Westboro Baptist Church (WBC), was also in the area. I'm guessing the people who didn't make it to Wayland were with Fred since both WBC and Article 8/Massresistance have the same supporters. No one in the media even bothered to cover the "rally" so I'm sure Article 8 was disappointed and we can expect Massresistance to exclaim that the liberal media isn't covering the news.

Amazingly, David Parker is still saying that he isn't in cahoots with Article 8 even though Article 8 sponsored the rally, he appeared on Fox News with Brian Camenker, called Article 8 when he was ready to be arrested by the Lexington Police and Article 8 has all the emails and correspondence that David Parker exchanged with the Lexington School System. (Is it me or does it seem like David Parker doesn't do anything without Brian Camenker/Article 8?)

On a side note, a quiet group from Lexington called Lexington Cares held a silent protest at the church. Thank God for these people who are willing to witness the hate that is occurring in our own state. Even though Article 8 is a small fringe group it is still important for them to know that we are witnessing their actions.

Candlelight Ceremony at the New England Holocaust Memorial

Tonight I went to the annual candlelight ceremony at the New England Holocaust Memorial in memory of gays and lesbians who have been persecuted and oppressed throughout time. It was a beautiful ceremony which ended when everyone present placed a stone on the monument.

Prior to the ceremony, volunteers read the names of GLBT victims of persecution. The handout says:

This gesture is inspired by the tradition of the worldwide Holocaust memorial project, "Unto Every Person There is a Name," By personalizing the tragedy of these men and women, we seek to strengthen the conviction of our community to battle all forms of hate and intolerance.

I guess I'm not surprised when I read the hateful things Massresistance puts up on its web page. The anonymous blogger, who publishes this hate speech, hides behind her computer. Telling a mother that her children died because of their "gay lifestyle". These are just hateful and cruel, and no different than Fred Phelps who says the same things.

We will not forget and we stand witness to the hate speech that Massresitance and Article 8 spout.

The Pot Calling the Kettle Black Part II

I feel like I'm going a bit crazy. Over at Massresistance, she is complaining that Margery Eagan has a "curious obsession" over homosexuality! The person who counts the number of paragraphs till the Boston Globe writes about gay people and even has a website devoted to all things gay is accusing a reporter of being obsessed with homosexuality!

Additionally, Ms. Massresitance thinks Margery Eagan is obsessed with Brian Camenker (the leader of the hate group Article 8) because she wrote two articles about him in the past month. She doesn't mention how Brian and Article 8 have been in the news lately because of their loco press conferences and public accusations.

She goes on further to call Margery "bitchy and childish" for her writings about Camenker. I guess Ms. Massresitance must have forgotten these juicy gems that she herself wrote:

"Youth Pride Day" In Boston, May 21: How Many More Will They Recruit? [Were they giving our toasters and I missed it?]

When talking about Eileen McNamara: "Her insipid, irrational hit column ("Great minds don't think" -- whatever that's supposed to mean!) demonstrates once again that the hatred and bigotry are on her side.

Or when talking about Dan Kennedy: Isn't that clever? Well, I'd say someone
infinitely higher up is keeping score, and so far Dan looks like a big ZERO.

I guess Massresistance and Article 8 don't like the similarities they have with Fred Phelps' Westboro Baptist Church. Try as they might, they can't stop their supporters from helping them, after all, they are on the same side, Birds of a feather flock together!

I guess they don't like the image that is looking back at them in the mirror.

We're Ba-ack!

Hey there, thanks for the good wishes on our recent marriage. My new husband and I just got back from a brief honeymoon in NYC. It was good to get away, see a show and dine in some nice restaurants.

We couldn't have been treated better either. When our hotel staff found out we were married this weekend they upgraded our room and the Hotel manager even sent us a box of Godiva chocolates to welcome us. One of the restaurants we dined at brought us two luscious desserts with "Congratulations" written in chocolate.

Ah, to enjoy the special rights once held only by heterosexuals couples.

Like most vacations, it could have been longer, however, we are always happen to come home (and be back in Massachusetts!)

It seems the homophobic Massresistance Blogger has been busy too! More on her later!

It's Nice to Know Who Your Friends are!

David Parker, the man who was arrested for trespassing in a Lexington Elementary school after he refused to leave, has wonderful supporters. In the Boston Globe today there is a wonderful article about his supporters.

Apparently today, his supporters are going to protest outside of the Estabrook Elementary School, you know, the one where David Parker held up until police arrested him. I imagine they will hold up their purposeful Christian signs which say:
  • God Hates Fags
  • Fags are Worthy of Death
  • Thank God for 9/11

Here's is a great picture of some children from the Westboro Baptist Church wearing their colors proudly. They and their parents are great Christians, aren't they? These Parker supporters are most noted for their pickets of Matthew Shepard's funeral with signs that read "Matt Burns in Hell". Such lovely people, aren't they?

Once again, I wonder how David Parker is explaining this to his child? I don't think these pictures were in the Diversity School bag that Estabrook Elementary has. All in all, it's great to know who your friends and supporters are.

We're Getting Married!

I will be away from the computer for a bit since Patrick and I are getting married today. Not even the homophobes pissed off by the Red Sox getting "Queer Eyed" can ruin this day (I see the color of green in all their posts). All of our family and friends are here to celebrate this wonderful day.

I will be back in a few days to talk about the Hate Rally that is going on in Wayland on Sunday. The new husband and I are trekking to it to see hate personified. Maybe we'll even have some pictures too!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone and God Bless the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.

"Huge" Rally for Trespasser Parker

Article 8, the force behind David Parker (the guy who held up in a Lexington elementary school until police arrested him) is having a statewide rally for the alleged Trespasser in Wayland, MA (I never realized that Wayland could accommodate the masses expected for this "rally")

Interesting enough, Article 8 does not include any specific information on their website about the rally other than it's on Sunday in Wayland from 2-5. Article 8 does have an electronic mailing list that lists the rally. (If you're on the list send me an email)

Massnews, the conservative website that gives a daily run down of articles on gays and same sex marriage does have the information on the rally posted. (Apparently they are on the list) I had wondered how come Article 8 was not posting any information I guess they are afraid that gays and lesbians and other normal people might just show up.

Mark your calendars:
Date: Sunday, June 5, 2005
Time: 2:00-4:00 pm
Place: Celebration International Church, Wayland, MA
*Directions to Celebration International Church, 6 Loker St., Wayland, MA:
Loker St. is side street, on the north of Commonwealth Rd. (Route 30), Wayland, between Rice Rd. and Main St.
Click here for map & directions.

If you can I suggest you attend the rally to show your "support". My future husband and I attended a similar rally in Boston on the eve of marriage becoming legal for same sex couples. At that rally Alan Keyes (the guy who through his gay daughter out of his house) and some woman from Concerned Women of America (who had been divorced at least once) were talking about family values and sanctity of marriage. We're thinking of attending since it will be our first full day as a married couple and enjoy seeing democracy in action.

Great Letter Day

A letter to the editor in the Lexington Minuteman Newspaper wonderfully describes the linkages between Article 8, Massresistance "Blog" and David Parker (the father who wouldn't leave the elementary school until the police came and took him away, yet they all still cry that they are not "associated with each other".

Massresistance tries to defend the hate speech it puts up on their website and blames the "radical homosexuals" for making them use analogies to Hitler and Nazism. (Can you say personal responsibility?) The "blogger" claims that the "activist homosexuals" have no sense of humor and little imagination.

This is the same person that accused the clergy of Grace Chapel and Countryside Bible Church, religious institutions in Lexington, of betraying its members and tries to give the Churches a lesson in religion.

Talk about irony!

Addition: Check out all the letters to the Editor in the Lexington Minuteman. It is so wonderful see a whole town stand up against the hate speech that is trying to be preached in Lexington.

Trespasser Parker Wants Children to be silent about their parents

David Parker, the man who held a Lexington Elementary school hostage, tried to cop a plea deal yesterday in his day in court. Luckily, normal members of the community were there to show that Lexington is not about to bow to the bigotry and hate speech of Parker and his "supporters". The Boston Herald Reports that Brian Camenker from Article 8 said:

These people are here to intimidate him
Ok Brian, the man who held up in an elementary school, wanted to be arrested and refused to be released from jail is playing the victim? Give us a break! And what's with the plea deal? Why doesn't he just plead guilty since it's what Article 8 wanted all along, a martyr for the cause? Were the people trying to "intimidate" him like Article 8 does to the Judges, newlyweds, high school students, etc... What happened, none of the Article 8 bigots, ur, I mean "supporters" were there for their man? Are they waiting for the HUGE public rally of support on Sunday?

I wonder what Parker is telling his child now a days when DEEP THROAT is on all the front pages of all the newspapers and on TV?

Here's a link to my earlier post where Massresistance slammed all the religious institutions in Lexington for decrying bigotry and hate speech in the town.

Who is Massresitance Afraid of?

The "blog" pulled the post after a few hours online because her "followers" didn't like her attacking their church.

What's an Ex-gay?

Massresistance is currently razing "Annie's Mailbox" (an advice column in the Boston Globe) for being "pro-gay" for advice it gave to a parent with a gay child. It seems the Massresistance "blog" would like to have had Annie suggest PFOX instead of the radicals at PFLAG (Parents, Friends of Lesbians and Gays who are the sweetest and kindest people you would ever meet).

PFOX, in case you didn't know, is the Parents and Friends of X-Gays. I think the name is funny. Why are they X-Gays? Is that like the X-Men or an X-husband/wife? If they have "recovered" from homosexuality, why aren't they called heterosexuals? I don't call myself an X-Straight (of course as far as I can remember I have always been gay).

I guess PFLAG's Vision statement is the reason why Massresistance thinks they are radical:

We, the parents, families and friends of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered persons, celebrate diversity and envision a society that embraces everyone, including those of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities. Only with respect, dignity and equality for all will we reach our full potential as human beings, individually and collectively. PFLAG welcomes the participation and support of all who share in, and hope to realize this vision.

Maybe I have something on the X-men analogy. Maybe they think of themselves as superheros now "Ready to target Homosexuality where ever it occurs, but we're not straight you know, we're the EX-GAYs!"

An interesting blog that watches these Ex-gay movements is Ex-Gay Watch. Check them out if your interested.

Note to Massresistance: Annie's Mailbox isn't pro-gay, they are pro-normal and you're a little late in your criticism. Other homophobes like you have already attacked "Dear Abby" for being "pro-gay", hmmm...sense a trend? They, like the Psychiatric Associations in the world know that being gay is NOT a mental illness. Likewise, trying to change your sexual orientation does more harm to the person than living the way you are born. The only harm that is caused to a person who is gay or lesbian is from people like YOU.
