And Miss Anti-Gay Bigot is...

I'm sure you've read about it by now, but Miss California, who was supposed to be working on behalf of Special Olympics has devoted her time and tiara to NOM. She even presided over a press conference today, take a gander:

Words escape me after watching that! Who knew that fake boobs were OK in the Miss USA pageant? And it appears that the Miss California pageant paid for those breast implants. Hmm...I'm thinking the NOM people vetted their newest spokesperson about as well as John McCain vetted his running mate.

PFLAG's Annual Party!

Next week, Saturday, May 2nd is Greater Boston PFLAG's annual Pride and Passion party:

The guest list includes Congressman Barney Frank, Channel 5 news anchor David Brown and Honorary co-chairs Robert and Joan Parker.

As usual they have some incredible auction items including an African Safari and a chance to tour the "Dancing with the Stars" set and attend a live taping!

Brian Camenker/MassResistance hates this group for its "Safe Schools" program that engages with schools to change attitudes and end bullying. The need for this program is more apparent than ever with the recent suicide in Springfield of an 11-year old due to bullying.

So much more could be done to prevent future tragedies. GB-PFLAG receives absolutely no funding from the national PFLAG organization. Basically all of its funding comes from individual and corporate donations, and this annual fundraiser. GB-PFLAG has had dramatic success in getting straight students to reject gay-insensitive behavior. The best thing about attending this annual parties is the chance to hear from straight students whose schools had a GB-PFLAG engagement.

For more information check out GB-PFLAG's website.

Marriage Equality Hearing in Maine

Today was the marriage equality hearing in Maine for the LD1118 and LD 1020 and guess who was there....

If you guessed Mad Dad David Parker, you were right. He talked about his failed lawsuits and wasn't exactly telling the whole truth. It took another citizen from Maine, who runs a protection from violence program in Portland, to set the record straight (so to speak). He stated how David Parker got arrested because he told the police that he was not leaving the elementary school until they arrested him. He also read from the book which David Parker is against "Who's in a Family":
"Laura and Kyle live with their two moms, Joyce and Emily, and a poodle named Daisy. It takes all four of them to give Daisy a bath"

Wow, that's SO controversial!

You might still be able to catch the hearing because there are lots of people present.

Stephen Cobert's Marriage Ad, Call Maggie Gallagher

Stephen Cobert gives the best response to the National Organization for Marriage's anti-gay ad:

Apparently, the National Organization for Marriage doesn't realize that everyone is laughing AT them, not with them since they post a big Thank You to Stephen Cobert for playing their ad. They can't see how really, really pathetic it is.

MassResistance's Legislative Delusions Continue

MassResistance has been posting some real oddball stuff lately but this takes the cake. They've always been a far off fringe group however only now are just beginning to realize it:
We believe that this is the year that the outrage of parents and citizens will finally boil over. Maybe it's the David Parker case, (which has lost on every level it's been appealed to even the Supreme Court who refused to hear it) maybe it's the economy (yeah, you're losing your retirement, but dammit, those gay shouldn't be getting married), maybe it's the enormous public money given to homosexual activists and other special interests in the schools and everywhere else (yeah, the homosexuals are rolling around naked in all that dough, we're all over Wall Street you know and I'm sure Scott Lively will be writing a new book on how the homosexuals are responsible for the Bush Depression). The Legislature is finally going to feel the wrath of our side. (This is great, I can't wait to see this happen, Hey Brian, still gathering those signatures to repeal State laws?) We've made sure that there are some good bills to clean things up. (OK, how many State Legislators are going to sign onto a bill by a nationally recognized hate group,...anyone...?)

Their whole list of "good bills" reads like a Dick and Jane novel: This bill good, their bill bad and they are still beating that Mad Dad Parker issue to death. Nobody cares. I'd recommend Mad Dad Parker spent less time in State court and more time on a basketball or squash court.

MassResistance also is touting that they are one of 22 "pro-family" groups confronting the Day of Silence. Who are these other "pro-family" groups (lucky for them they can't be put in jail for misrepresentation) Take a gander:
Abiding Truth Ministries
American Family Association
AFA Michigan
AFA Pennsylvania
Americans for Truth
Association of Maryland Families
Campaign for Children and Families
Citizens for Community Values
Coalition of Conscience
Community Issues Council
Concerned Women for America
CWA of Washington
Culture Campaign
Faith2ActionFaith, Family & Freedom Alliance
Illinois Family Institute
Indiana Voice
Liberty Alliance Action
Liberty Counsel
Maine Family Policy Council
MassResistance
Mission: America
PFOX

Just the same list of losers sucking on the anti-gay teat. Most of these organizations are just like MassResistance too, one person operations with a big names to give the appearance that they're legit.

I still trying to figure out why Brian updated his website today and still hasn't addressed the unanimous decision by the Iowa Supreme Court. Even Thhttp://americansfortruth.com/news/iowa-same-sex-%e2%80%98marriage%e2%80%99-ruling-an-assault-on-midwestern-values-says-aftah%e2%80%99s-labarbera.htmle Peter got something up on Friday.

Marriage Equality Comes to Iowa!

Breaking news:

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Iowa Supreme Court issued a unanimous ruling Friday finding that the state's same-sex marriage ban violates the constitutional rights of gay and lesbian couples, making Iowa the third state where marriage will be legal.

Of course, this would be the 4th state however, California is still up in the air. This is also big news because this is the Midwest. Congratulations Iowa!

Oh, and it was UNANIMOUS!
