Anti-Gay Marriage Male Attacks Marriage Equality Female

You knew it would come to this. Larry Cirignano, the leader of the Catholic Citizenship group physically attacked a woman who was carrying a sign asking for no discrimination in the Constitution yesterday in Worcester. The Worcester Telegram reports:

Sarah Loy, 27, of Worcester was holding a sign in defense of same-sex marriage amid a sea of green “Let the People Vote” signs when Larry Cirignano of Canton, who heads the Catholic Citizenship group, ran into the crowd, grabbed her by both shoulders and told her, “You need to get out. You need to get out of here right now.” Mr. Cirignano then pushed her to the ground, her head slamming against the concrete sidewalk.
And then in true fashion, he continued acting like the true coward he is:

As Ms. Loy lay motionless on the ground, crying, Mr. Cirignano ran back behind the lectern, where moments before he had opened the afternoon rally by leading a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.
These people hate gay people and their supporters so much that they resort to violence. If you want to see a picture of the guy that attacked a woman go here. I bet the Cardinal is so proud.

Update: Here is the information for the Catholic Citizenship. I think we need to ask them if this is how Larry treats all women.

You have got to be shitting me. We need to call Cardinal O'Malley's office and ask him if this is consistent with the Church's teaching and when is he going fire Larry Cirignano?

It’s outrageous that in this holy time of Advent when our thoughts should be of peace, that the chief spokesperson for the Roman Catholic Church in Massachusetts shows himself to be a man of violence. Cardinal Sean, do not allow a man of violence to speak for you!

Are there witnesess, do we have video or photographs.

When will the Assault & Battery arrest take place.

Prosecution to the full extent of the law!

I know it's still early, but this story could use some wider press coverage.

Oh for crying out loud, this is horrible.

Why wasn't the jerk immediately arrested? Last I checked, pushing people to the ground is a crime.

I am going to write to this person's organization and ask if they think violence and breaking the law are what Jesus taught.

Why can't people just live and let live?

Thanks for covering this. The victim is a friend of mine. An article in the Telegram & Gazette is about as much exposure as anything can get in the city of Worcester.

I'm tracking the local take at my blog.

I was there. The CC/VOM people were extremely aggresive and agitated that day. I attended the other rallies with the other KnowThyNeighbor volunteers and they had a much different dynamic than yesterday's rally.

It is what desparation will push them toward.

I was there, and I am a witness. I was about 10 feet away as he took her by both shoulders and shoved her to the ground. She went down hard enough for her head to hit the pavement. He, of course, took off. As I went in to make sure she was OK, the police rolled in. They were much more interested with her being out of the crowd than they were in pursuing A+B allegations. I escorted her out, and only after the police were prodded into acting did they even take a report. Mr. Cirignano left the event a free man, by the way...If anyone needs a witness account, they can contact me at robargeATgmailDOTcom.

I've been told there is video, and I sure hope this is the case...

I was there as well. Now I understand that Mrs. Loy is a board member of the ACLU of MA. This is going to get ugly for VoteonMarriage. Anyone that was there, like the guy that was ten feet from the incident, please forward all pictures and videos to knowthyneighbor.org so we can be the watchdog you want on this issue. thanks for promoting this story, and if anyone is so moved, call the press and demand they cover this. If all of us work together we can make things happen and hold people accountable for violence against us and our supporters.

365gay.com now has a story about it too.

I'll bet she's as ugly as a bucket full of assholes (well that's ugly to me anyway).
Serves her right.

Only one question...
Is she butch, or lipstick?

Inquiring minds want to know!

I just saw the video on YouTube about the Worcester rally. Did you see at the end John Hosty handing Tom Lang a video device? Not that it is needed at this point, but it looks like there are 3 other people on that "indy" website picture holding recorders.

OMG, I can't believe I missed that! Cirignano is screwed. I can't wait to see him try to lie his way out of this only to find out the head of KnowThyNeighbor.org has it all on tape. This is the first talk I have seen about this. Someone should make a post of it.
